Captain Darrow
Captain Darrow was one of General Frank Hummel's sadistic, selfish henchman and a Marine. He was the secondary antagonist in The Rock and was played by Tony Todd.
The Rock[]
After Hummel and his men took Alcatraz, Darrow and Captain Frye landed on the island with some more men. Darrow and Frye were the marines that provoked the gunfight with Commander Anderson and SEAL Team One, and when they found a SEAL alive he wanted to kill him. He and Captain Frye got their first mission under Hummel in Alcatraz when he took over the island and took hostages. One night, as security around the island was breeched, Darrow, along with other marines, massacres an entire SEAL team sent to retake the island. After the battle, Darrow suggested that Hummel execute a few hostages for the SEAL team's interference, but Hummel (who secretly had no intention of killing anybody and was appalled by the SEALs' deaths) coldly refused.
The very next morning, a VX missile fires, but Hummel, who cannot bring himself to kill innocent civilians, turns the missile off course to hit water instead. Darrow, angered by this, brings his other marines to see his commander. Just as General Hummel called it quits, Darrow decides to launch the last VX rocket anyway and he kills the general with Captain Frye's help. In the lower lighthouse, Darrow prepares to duel with Goodspeed, but the doctor has a trump card. Goodspeed asks if Darrow likes Rocket Man, the Elton John song. Darrow says he hates the song ("I don't like soft-ass shit!"), but Stanley says he brought it up because the captain was indeed the Rocket Man.
Mutiny and Death[]
When Hummel changed the co-ordinates for one of the rockets, Darrow, Frye and Sergeant Crisp were outraged by this. They argued with Hummel and Major Baxter and in the end there was a gunfight. Hummel shot Crisp and Frye killed both Hummel and Baxter. Darrow was shot in the shoulder.
He found Stanley Goodspeed disabling a rocket, and he drew his knife and taunted him. Goodspeed fired the rocket, without the gas and the guidance chips at Darrow, and he was impaled on a post.
Darrow carried a Beretta 92SB with wood grips as his sidearm of choice. Since the 92SB is a US Air Force sidearm, it is possible that Darrow was in the Air Force when he served in the military.
